A Pee for Peep

Well she did it and it wasn’t all that bad.  Piper has been sitting on the potty happily for a few weeks.  Now I am being a little lazy with her potty training since it is sooo easy to just have one in diapers (compared to two that is).  I have been letting her go at her own pace and not forcing it at all.  So yesterday a friend dropped by and we were chatting when Piper insisted on sitting on the potty so we went in I put her on the potty and kept chatting with Erin.  Then all of a sudden I heard a tinkle and lo and behold she had peed the littlest of bits in the potty.  So of course Erin and I made a big deal of it and Piper insisted on putting on her diaper where she finished the rest of her pee.  But she told me she needed to go, she in fact did go (and knew that she did, she looked in the potty and all) and then was pleased with herself when we told Daddy that night.  So progress comes even when you are not looking.

Up to 75% and holding

Well Lela seems to be on the mend, it has been very slow and in being sick she has enabled some bad habits so we have to break them and get her well.  She finally slept in her own bed two nights in a row which is great.  Previously the girls could not sleep in our bed even if we wanted them to, they would be so fitful and not get any rest.  But with Lela sick I have had to hold her and snuggle her for her to get sleep.  I have also been carrying her around for the last week so that is something we have to deal with too.  But as she gets better she is in less need of carrying.  The mornings seem to go really well, she is rested and ready to go, but then by noon or so it is a downhill slide to bed time.  She ate her oatmeal well this morning so that is a good sign.  I haven’t forced the medicine down her throat yet so I am sure that will ruin everything.

I took them to the zoo on Friday thinking Lela would enjoy riding around and looking at the animals in the jogger.  She would have enjoyed it if Piper were not running about.  So instead we hopped on the zoo train and rode around with a guide.  It was nice, learned a bit about the animals and the girls really liked it.  So that was good.  We need to get to the park and ride the kiddie train, the girls are really into trains.  The weather has been holding so we have been able to get outside which is a break for me.  My running is slacking right now due to the illness of the girls and my lack of motivation.  All in all we are doing great and hopefully this week will see the end of the yuckies:)

Poor me

Well if you are not prepared to sit and feel sorry for me, read no further.  In reality I don’t deserve much pity but it makes me feel better to think I do:)  LOL!

So my week started off with a visit to a new doctor for my annual checkup.  I don’t like going to the doctor because they are always running late and I get so annoyed waiting.  Well this was to be no different.  I was actually waiting for 1.5 hours in the exam room before I lost it.  I came out and immediately starting welling up while asking the receptionist for my copay back.  Everyone started frantically running around and when I told them I had been in there 1.5 hours they were so apologetic.  Seems THEY FORGOT ME!  Now if that was not bad enough, Jason had his first new employee starting that day so him spending the better part of the day waiting for me was stressing me out.

Then after all that we get a humdinger of a sinus thingie that gave Lela a real ear infection.  Of course everything I have read says steer clear of antibiotics unless absolutely necessary.  So I take her to the doctor and get the prescription and spend the next two days carrying her around as dead weight while still trying to play and care for Piper.  Needless to say my back is killing me and the poor dog has been totally rejected this week. Finally I caved in and started giving her the antibiotics but not until the fever had pretty much knocked her out.  Poor little thing.  At least I know that I gave her body a chance to recover and obviously it could not kick it alone.  I am starting her on a course of probiotics to put back the good bacteria that we are killing with the antibiotics.

I guess if you want to feel sorry for someone you could feel sorry for Jason.  He has had lentil vegetable soup and lentil sloppy joes to eat this week….ALL WEEK.   He is probably at his all time low weight wise because I am not feeding him anything fattening, meat, dairy or what not.  Just healthy beans, broccoli, and fruit (just like the girls and I).  Thankfully my neighbor made some vegan scones yesterday and he thought they were delish.  More and more I think he finds himself in the vegan darkside but he has not starved to death and actually likes it (most of it).

I am looking forward to the weekend.

Get your foot off my chair

There are a lot and I mean a lot of great things about having twins.  I absolutely love it for many reasons but mostly because I have twins:)  Anyhoo, some of the funniest stuff comes from having kids the same age (or even those of you with kids really close in age).  Piper likes to pick at Lela and Lela is the most thoughtful child.  Today she wanted to watch her numbers DVD since we are learning numbers and she asked me to put it on and then she pulled up two chairs, one for her and one for Piper.  She pulled hers up and to the left and put Pipers right in front of the DVD since she likes to sit dead center, then Lela touched the chair and said Piper.  Now Piper was not in the room, Lela was just getting it all set up in case Piper came in.

Well Piper did come in.  The next time we checked on them Lela was upset because Piper had her foot on Lela’s chair.  So Jason  pulled their chairs apart and put a little bench in between and left.  Then Piper got up and stood behind Lela and put her foot on her chair.  Jason went in again and asked her to stop and told her Lela did not like it.  So the next time he went in she was laying on the floor crying with her foot on Lela’s chair.  She was upset because daddy did not like what she was doing but there was  no way she was taking her foot of Lela’s chair.  And of course Lela was not going to be happy unless Piper took her foot off her chair.  We let them sort it out and they did with no fanfare or fighting.  It was so funny but I know you had to be there to really find it funny.
