Breastfeeding

It has been an interesting and new experience for us all this breastfeeding.  The other day I asked Piper to show me her broccoli muscles, we correlate growing big and strong with vegetable eating and they think its funny.  So she showed me her muscles while exclaiming that she was getting bigger.  Then I asked her if Landis needed some broccoli because she was getting bigger too.  She said no, that Landis eats moles.  Really big ones.  Of course I was confused and asked her what moles and she told me my moles.  So we all got a kick out of the fact that she thinks my nipples are moles and that is what Landis eats. HA!

Piper has also been seen breastfeeding her baby Reba.  She pulls up her shirt and feeds her and then pats her back and puts her down to sleep.  At least she sees what I do and from my perspective it looks pretty loving:)

Landis Update

We are combining the blogs!

Landis continues to grow and grow.  I have hidden my scale so that I can focus on fitness goals rather than weight loss so I don’t know what she weighs.  I think her next dr. appt is first week of Dec but will let you all know.  She still sleeps a lot and loves to be in her Moby.  I don’t think any sort of schedule or routine has emerged yet but I am not really paying that much attention.  With the girls I had to have a schedule so I would not go out of my mind but with Landis that it is not such an issue.

She has taken another bottle from Jason and doesn’t seem to have much trouble although it is not her preference.  She is starting to take a pacifier because she loves to suck.  It took me about a week of serious upchucking (from her) to realize that at night she doesn’t always want to nurse, sometimes she just wants to suck.  Since I can’t control my milk flow we finally added a pacifier:)  Duh, apparently the third child still has some tricks up their sleeve to teach her parents:)

Rock Band

Okay so Jason and his brother play Guitar Hero on the XBox 360, it is quite a kick.  JJ got Rock Band for the XBox that includes a microphone, drum set and another guitar.  The girls LOVED it.  It was quite a stitch to watch them all play.  I am always surprised by the girls abilities and this was no different.  Lela was keeping time on those drums and Piper was jamming along on her guitar.  They each took a spin on the microphone too and Lela was a bit like Axel Rose jamming and singer, Piper was a little more reserved on the singing side but still having fun.

I will get Jace to upload a video so you can all get a laugh.

Parallelogram

Okay so we draw shapes for the girls and they tell us what they are.  Jason being the geek that he is draws them shapes like parallelogram and I chastise him and laugh.  Well the other day as we were waiting to see the head of dermatology at Phoenix Children’s I drew a shape for Piper and she proudly exclaimed “A Parallelogram”, Jason was a bit surprised and asked if we had been practicing.  The answer is no, just those few times that he had shown it to her she had absorbed and remembered it.  We all got quite a laugh out of that.

Gripe Gripe, Whine Whine

Okay so for those of you that are complaining about no posts lately I will give you a quick update:) LOL!

Last night I asked Piper if she was going to go with me to get some noodles, she replied “You are going to have to go by yourself” — too funny. The girls saying funny things has gone up exponentially in the last few weeks. They have the same speaking style that I do. Another funny thing that Lela will do is to tell me to “just leave her alone” when Piper has a tantrum. Piper likes to have her tantrum alone in the hall for about 1 minute, during this time she doesn’t want anyone to touch or talk to her so we just leave her alone. Sometimes if Lela thinks Piper is getting upset, she tells her to just go in the hall. You can’t help but laugh at them.

The girls are very active and their imaginations are amazing. It is so fun to watch them play Dora and Diego and rescue animals stranded in the tree or waterfall in our backyard. We go to the playground often and they love to play as long as there are no other “people” on there. Sometimes they will go on with me when there are “people” and Lela will announce that she is not afraid.

I promise to get better at posting.

Smiling

Today Landis smiled at me about 6 times. I know it was a real smile because it was 3 in a row each time. You could almost see the thought process she was going through as she tried to smile. It was so cute. The first time it was just she and I sitting in the glider, the second time my friend Erin had dropped by and she did it again. Three in a row:) It was the cutest thing ever.

OMG Do you hear those angels singing?

Well they are singing!  Today was the first day EVER that Piper actually interacted and played with another toddler.  So not only are the girls getting into independent play (together but independent from me) Piper actually played catch or run with another toddler that she just met this morning!  I joined a parenting group rather than a playgroup and today was our first meeting.  We went to Great Harvest Bread Company and listened to stories, ate muffins etc.  It was wonderful for me because I got to have a soy chai while the girls sat and listened to stories.  After that they got a piece of freshly baked whole wheat bread and I got to socialize with like minded moms.  It was great.  Then as we wandered outside the girls started to play catch, the girls being Brooke and Piper.  Then Lela followed along behind running up and down the sidewalk.  It was super.  What made it even better is that my folks were here and got to go with us.  Where was Landis you ask?  Snug in her Moby enjoying being close to mom (and milk, LOL).

My first….

Well today Landis took her first bottle from Nana Peggy. Mom, that’s me, was out of the house on a walk with Papa Norman. Landis is growing so fast I think she is up to 9 lbs and she is doing great. She sleeps, eats and has a couple alert periods a day. She also has one fussy period a day but it is mostly cute and not too frustrating. She saves it up until the end of the day most of the time so the girls are down and I can focus on her 100% which makes her, and me, happy. I wonder if it is something I eat, since there could be a lot of offenders in the list of beans and green vegetables that I consume. Also I have been guilty of a shot of espresso every few days, I know, I know but sometimes I think I really need it;) I am starting back into my exercise routine this week so hopefully that will replace the espresso, or it may cause me to want more, LOL!
