Tracking

Landis can track me now as I walk around the room. It was pretty exciting, I had just set her down in her bouncy chair and then I walked off and looked back and she was looking right at me. So I walked by a few more times and she turned her head and watched me walk by. So cool. Now she will discover her hands pretty soon and that will be really cool!

Typing on the computer and staying dry all night

Well Jason and I are getting old and tired. We keep forgetting to put a diaper on Piper at night and she in turn keeps forgetting to pee:) LOL! So by default she is staying dry all night just because we are not putting a diaper on her. I suspect she was ready some time ago but we just kept doing it because it was part of our routine. Yeah for us, both girls trained before 3! HA! Of course Lela was trained over a year ago, she was like me, hated to be wet. Piper as we all know is more stubborn, just like her dad (wink wink and a shout out to Jace).

Piper loves to type on the computer. She will stand at the Mac and ask me to spell words and then she will type them out on the computer. She loves it. She will say “now Jason”, “okay now Piper” and on and on. Lela on the other hand likes to interact more with the computer using her Cat in the Hat game. Basically it reads her a story and she can manipulate the story, move things around etc., she loves it.

Jingle Jingle

I really need to get video of this because no matter how much I try, I won’t do it justice with words. Here goes anyways:

This past weekend Piper and Lela got two holiday shirts from Grammy and Grampy. Amazingly Piper went for one shirt while Lela went for the other without any fuss. Lela’s has a big picture of Santa, which is funny because of the holiday party the day before where she didn’t want to be in the same room with Santa.

Piper’s shirt is green and, I think, says Merry Christmas on it. But the best part about Piper’s shirt is that there are little jingle bells attached to the front. She loves them. She’ll run around just to make them jingle. But it gets better.

I don’t know how she started this, but if she really wants those bells to jingle, she’ll fire up uber-jingle: she’ll bend over at the waist, get her arms all up under her shoulders with her elbows out like she was running, and then just twist her torso back and forth and back and forth so fast. Just like a dog shaking out the rain.

And those bells will j-j-j-JINGLE! She gets such a kick out of it and I swear, every time she does it I can’t stop laughing. It’s too funny.

Wide Eyed Stiffy

Yes, the wide eyed stiffy has reared its head. No not that one, Landis you dirty minded readers. Anyhoo, she is wanting to stay awake more but can’t do it without some physical help. The help she has enlisted includes the wide eyed stare with no blinking. I think she imagines toothpicks holding her eyes open, it is so funny to see. The other helper is the stiff as a board muscle reflex. Just as she feels she is starting to relax she stiffens from head to toe and all of the sudden you are breastfeeding, cuddling or rocking a piece of hard wood. When you get the wide eyed stiffy brace yourself, she is either going to let loose and scream at you or fall right asleep depending on the alignment of the moon and stars:)

Busy Weekend

Well we had an uber busy weekend, for us that is. Friday night was mellow at home with a warm dinner of Rustic White Beans and Mushrooms, steamed broccoli and hot buttery bread. Then on Saturday morning we headed out for breakfast which is our usual routine. Once we got home from breakfast we rallied the troops and headed off for the multiples group Holiday party. It was our first party with the multiples group, they usually hold them in the afternoon when the girls are napping but this one started at 11. So we get there and take in all the splendor, a big bouncy house, decorations and pony rides. The girls were pretty excited about the ponies and rode twice. Piper stuck with her original pony, named Big Bob (he was actually a tiny pony) but Lela moved up to Scooter which was a BIG pony on her second ride. Both girls said, “Don’t hold on to me” for the second ride and they did really well. I was a bit nervous since I was trying to dodge pony pies on the ground and keep an eye on Piper while wearing Landis and trying not to inhale, LOL!

After the second pony ride we went inside and made a fruit loop necklace that Piper ate immediately (first time she knew there was cereal other than Cheerios), and Lela wore her necklace until 7PM that night and did not eat a bite. Hmmmmm….. After the cereal necklaces Santa arrived. Once he entered the building Lela announced it was time to go and I mean NOW. So I had to get a cup and get Piper more cereal and Lela went out into the hall with Jace. We left the party but had a good time.

Then later that afternoon we bundled up to go to downtown Chandler for the lighting of the Tumbleweed Tree. It turned out to be a bit cold and got a little late for the girls (and for me) so we left before the big parade. I don’t think the girls are quite up for late night events just yet, or maybe I am not ready yet:) So far the latest they have even been to bed was 9PM (not counting when they were wee). I am a stickler for our routine, it makes me feel like I have some sort of control of the situation:) I know I really don’t but it’s the little things. Anyhoo, they were not disappointed by going home so we headed out and made it home in time for bed.

Sunday we went to Grampy Jack and Uncle JJ’s birthday party. It was really just a gathering over tacos with a couple of gifts thrown in. It was a good day but I think the whole weekend threw little Landis off a bit. She was quite a bear last night until we got her to sleep, then she was an angel through the night like she always is. So now I am heading straight to our calendar for this weekend and removing some of our plans:) I think I would prefer a little slower pace since I did not finish the laundry, grocery shop or finish decorating our tree! TGIM:)
