Our Kids

The girls got into swim lessons! There was quite a rush this weekend since the server at the community center went down and there were hoards of angry parents storming the place to get their kids into summer classes. Lucky for me I was only mildly annoyed at home and by the time I got to the center I had talked myself into the “hey what is the big deal” corner so I was calm and cool. Maybe it paid off because we got into some of the most coveted summer classes….swimming!

Now this is just the put your head under and blow bubbles class but Piper said she was ready. I enrolled Lela but I don’t think she is ready but maybe I will be surprised and we decided to let her decide for herself and not force our opinion of what she wants on her (at least not until she is a tween:). So every Saturday until late June you will find us at the Hamilton Pool doing classes. I am not too fussed about them learning how to swim but I thought Piper would enjoy it. They do a lot of “swimming” in the neighbors pool but they don’t go under on purpose:)

The other day we were at a park with a big lake and Lela said she wanted to go fishing. I instantly thought of my Grandpa and how he took us fishing. There was a fish fry at the end of the fishing too and I remember it being delish. Sometimes we would even have fresh sugar cane to gnaw at the end. Anyhoo, good thing for us we are taking a trip to Greer and staying at a fishing lodge in a couple weeks. Maybe someone will take her fishing there:)

We are still working with Landis on first foods. The barfing continues and it is kind of cute:) LOL! She has started to take some water from a bottle which is good here in good ol’ AZ. Not that she needs water since she is bf but if the food kicks in it would be nice for her to take some water to keep the ol’ bowels running.

Speaking of first foods I was digging around in Landis’ diaper the other morning (yes I know, gross) and there was some construction paper in there! It looks like it just passed right on through since I could easily identify that it was a corner piece of construction paper! LOL! So she barfs with applesauce, sweet potatoes, and rice cereal but not paper!

It is definitely interesting to have one starting to grab and put everything it its mouth with two 3 year olds around. I did not realize how much stuff is on the floor, on the cabinet, on the carpet and anywhere else she can reach. This is going to be interesting:)

We caught a bug! It started with Piper and I thought it was just allergies since we had been having a lot of wind. Then it started to move around the fam. One day I was talking to Lela and I said that we were going to have some quite time because Piper was sick. As Lela skipped and twirled down the hall she said, “I am not sick yet BUT I will be.” It was so funny because she was happily skipping along and sing songing that to me. It was so cute and so true:)

The bug made it around the kids, not really a bad one just runny nose and cough. It landed on Landis with a thud. The ped said she had “older sibling syndrome.” Ha, that means she won’t miss a day of kindergarten, LOL. She got an ear infection but it cleared up pretty quickly without the use of antibiotics! She is doing great now resting peacefully after an all night buffet (that is where she happily nurses all night long and I can’t seem to get up in the morning;)
