Argh…is it over yet

So eventually moms get tired of something. The other day I was talking to a friend who wanted to take her 2 year old twins out of their cribs. After all she was D-O-N-E with the baby thing, her boys were toddlers and she wanted to move on. In my infinite wisdom I told her to keep them in the cribs because she would just be exchanging the “baby” crib for the big kid “I don’t have to stay in my bed” drama.

Here I sit sick and tired of a couple of items in my house. I mean just the sight of them makes me want to hurl them over the fence. I am so O-V-E-R the stinkin’ potty seat rings and step stools! LOL! Lela has been using that potty seat ring for over 2 years, yes 2 years! I don’t know how many times I have picked it up off the potty to use it myself only to be greeted with a handful of urine….icky! Both of the girls need step stools to get to the sink and sometimes the potty. But those same step stools are a hazard for my toddling-in to everything-brave but unstable 16 month old. So I am coming to terms with the potty seat and the step stools and taking some of my own advice to step back and just get comfy with them.

I just won’t use that bathroom;)

Reading, writing and arithmetic

The new session of classes has started and the girls as excited as ever. Here is what our week looks like:

Monday – Piper and Lela take Reading class (they love it)
Tuesday – P and L do Apples to Zebras (good citizen and crafts class)
Wednesday – P and L take Spanish Class and P has swimming
Thursday – P and L do Apples to Zebras
Fridays – we go to the zoo or the museum or etc.

In between all those things we try to get out to the park to ride our bikes, play in our new jump house and go on nature adventures. We are still crafting and lately doing a lot of drawing. Lela likes to draw inside the lines but only use one color, Piper likes to use lots of colors and can’t see any lines;)

All three girls got their yearly check ups in the last week.

Landis, 23lbs. 31 inches tall
Lela, 36.2lbs, 40 inches tall
Piper, 32.2lbs, 38 1/4″ tall

All clean bills of health, growing fine….see ya’ next year.

Time to fall asleep on your own

We have a full fledged, comprehending little person among us these days. She understands most if not all of what you tell her and is very cooperative and engaged in all family activities.

This new enlightenment has come at a great price for her though:( Her new found enlightenment is costing her her late nights and constant nursing. She understands what bed time means and now we are giving her a bed time complete with ritual teeth brushing, book reading and going to sleep in the bed. Poor little thing.

The cute thing is that she is not fighting us but she is resisting sleep. She is sooooo pissed off but she knows that it is bed time so she mostly takes out her frustration on the bed. She got a new baby (she loves babies) from her Nana Peggy for Christmas and she just holds her baby tightly protesting herself to sleep while we sit by her and tell her it is okay and it is time for bed.

It is only the first week but I think she is heading towards that light at the end of the tunnel.

Piper’s Finger

Filed under:Kids — posted by mystique on @ 8:16 pm

The dreaded finger has reared its ugly head again. We went to the dermo and in typical fashion I tell Jason NOT to come because it is going to be like all the other appts where he has spent 3+ hours out of the office to be told there is nothing. So I said save yourself the trouble and I will go with the girls.

So I schlepped them all down to Phoenix Children’s Hospital and we went to see Dr. H. BUT wait, stop, Jason is not here well then let me wheel in Dr. Nguyen and in a weak moment pressure you in to another surgery.

Well it did not really happen like that but I was wishing Jason was there since I am sure I was a babbling idiot and did not ask the right, if any, questions. The net of it is that Dr. N wants to do the surgery again, the pigmentation is just too uncommon not to find out if it is or is not a melanoma for sure. Back to the operating table for Piper….Jan 27th is the big day.

So much to blog about

Filed under:Kids — posted by mystique on @ 8:13 pm

I have so much to blog about that it is weighing me down and causing me NOT to blog. So for you lovely readers I am shaking it off and going to give it a go to try to get you back up to speed.

I have been down and out for almost two weeks, two very LONG and painful (for me and for Jason) weeks. Jason was a champ wrangling the girls, sleeping with Landis in the other room and just overall being the shiz while I laid up in my bed not moving unless I had to hurl.

I am back on the job though and never more grateful:)

Both Hands on the Wheel

Happy New Year!

Driving home from Costco today… I was relaxing with my Mocha freeze in one hand, driving with the other. From the back I hear Lela, in a sing song voice say… “somebody’s not driving with two hands!”

I paused for a second, then asked Mystique “Did she…?” And Mystique smiled and said, “Yep.” Then back to Lela, “You’re right honey, thank you.”

And I put my mocha freeze down and put two hands at 2 and 10. Eek!
