Tell us a story

Landis had a late nap today so we were all able to spend some time tonight before bed together in the girls room. We were sitting there just chatting when I told the girls that maybe tonight they could tell us a story instead of us reading them a story.

Lela went first and she told us her story and then Piper. All the while Landis was bringing us books to read for which she stays focused for about 2 seconds. Okay so I know my story here is pretty lame but the girls were pretty cute.

All of Lela’s stories had 3 little somethings in it and a monster and usually a cave. That is funny because Lela is the one who cries when you leave and you would think be the more “sensitive” one. But the stories came complete with “woooooowooooo” noises, scary finger movements and even “grrrrrrs.”

All of Piper’s stories involved a cute little kitty who lost its way, or a little baby that was looking for its mommy and daddy. They all had happy endings too. Piper also uses items that come in to her view in the story, so she will be chatting away in her story when you pick up a red pillow and all of a sudden it is a character in her story.

It was pretty adorable to see them tell us stories and be so animated. I shall cherish this evening and hold it in my mind for when they are driving me bonkers:)

School daze

Well we are looking at schools already, yikes! We have applied at one school for the 2009-10 school year, it is a charter school called Edu-Prize. I think it is a great school. Lots of things are happening in education, like budget cuts, so the jury is out on what the 2009-10 school year will bring.

I am also attending the AHFE convention this summer because we (or I) am considering homeschooling as an option. We do have a public school in our neighborhood so that is on the list as well.

There is just so much to consider with school these days (as with everything else). Speaking of school…..Piper has started sucking on her fingers, which I find totally disgusting. Lately the girls have wanted me to stay a few minutes when they go in to class and look in on them. So the other day I did just that and a little girl at her table turned around and I saw that she had two fingers in her mouth (the middle two) and she was sucking away. Now I know where Piper got that idea from. Lela has also been caught in the bathroom calling her water cup “stupid” again so I am guessing she is picking that up from someone at school too. That is not a word that I use or Jason but I have heard it on Arthur before and that is one of their favorite shows.

Today the girls went to their ABC & 123 class. When I left Lela was in tears even though she was with Piper and she knew the teacher Ms. Nelson. She just doesn’t like new things. She was fine when I picked her up with her salty streaked cheeks and tissue. They have also decided that they no longer want to do Coach Mikes Gymnastics class (due to the space invading TJ from a previous post). I had to take a bio break during the last class and came back to them both sitting in the corner huddled up, Lela in tears and Piper sucking her fingers and crying. Needless to say we left and went to have our picnic a little early.

Seems like this is just a phase where they don’t want to do any classes or be away from me or home. They went through this once before and it was frustrating then and it is frustrating now. It is no small feat to get them dressed, fed and to these classes and then when we get there they rip my heart out and stomp on it with their tears. Sigh…..do I sound like a martyr yet? If not I could drone on some more about my horrible life, lol!

Landis update

I dunno why I have been so bad about blogging lately so all I can do is say I am sorry and I will do better;)

I wanted to update on Landis since she has so much going on these days. She can say, Lela, Piper, All Done, Dog and of course Da Da. She is eager to communicate and will babble while pointing at things and looking at you like, “do you get it?” She is also willing to learn any sign that you want to teach her and is tickled pink when she uses it correctly.

We are working (from scratch) to get her in to her toddler bed and out of our bed and to put herself down to sleep. It isn’t really bad but we are starting over after my trip to Texas.

Oh I just realized why I haven’t blogged….as I type Landis is glued to my leg crying. Oh the needy little bugger:) I must jet and post more later.

Stupid!

Well the S word has reared its ugly head here at the Haslups! We have been fortunate so far that the worst thing the girls have picked up is butt and that was from me, but now we say bottom:)

Yesterday Lela was sitting and playing and she was talking to her doll and she said, “that’s stupid.” I looked up and saw her smiling at me, as if to say she knew it was wrong but did it anyway just to see if I thought it was okay. I was across the room playing with Landis and Piper and I told her that we don’t say that word, it is a hurtful word and it is not okay to hurt others feelings. Piper kept asking, “what did she say” until I finally said that she said stupid and it is not something that we say.

I know they must grow up and we must go through these things but…..sigh….it seems so soon:(
