What’s so funny?

This is something I ask Jason all the time. Most of the time I am interested in what he found so funny in what I said, I mean I know I am hilarious but sometimes I don’t get what was so funny. I am pretty sarcastic and make off the cuff comments all the time and usually am not trying to be funny (I can see all the eyes rolling now) so I want to know what gave him such a chuckle.

Well the shoe is on the other foot and Piper asks all the time, what is so funny? She wants to know why we are always cracking up at what she said. The other night we were all in our bed getting the girls down for the night (hey, don’t judge we move them out of our bed when they fall asleep:) and I was cuddling with Piper cuz she likes it. In my cuddling I put my leg over her and was hugging her, as we lay like that it got really quiet and then Piper said, “mom get your big leg off me.” Both Jason and I cracked up and Piper wanted to know what was so funny. That is the thing with Piper she has an uncanny knack for stating the obvious but her comedic timing is naturally brilliant so it just makes things so funny. I mean my leg is big in comparison to her and it was on her so she wasn’t trying to be funny but it was a stitch. I have to remember more of these things but usually I am laughing to hard to write it down.

The other day Jason was making Piper her morning toast and she wanted peanut butter and agave nectar. Previously Jason had made her jelly toast because he could not find the agave nectar. When she saw me having agave she asked where it was kept and I showed her. So that morning she said, “daddy I would like peanut butter and agave nectar on my toast and don’t forget it is in the cabinet next to you on the first shelf.” Again she was only stating the obvious but it is the delivery I tell ya.

Bounce Jungle

We finally made it out to one of those bounce places. Friday came around and I knew we wanted to get out and do something but I did not know what. Thursday we played outside for about an hour and a half and I tell ya’ I was spent for the rest of the day, it is still too hot.

So I loaded up with chits and we headed out. It turned out to be great fun, it was not very crowded. There were two big rooms and the kids (except for mine) seemed to drift from one room to the next in 30 min intervals, so while all the kids went to the other room my kids had a whole room of bouncing, climbing and sliding virtually to themselves.

The only down side about the whole things is that I was crawling in and out of those tunnels, scaling the giant slide carrying Landis and bouncing my knees black and blue. I must admit that I have a serious backache to go along with my other ails, boy oh boy am I a mess or what? But the joy on their faces and the fun in their hearts make up for all of it, well except for the backache:)

Forcing myself to post

Okay so I am forcing myself to post, I have a lot to say (I think) but Jason and I got the back to school cold…..argh. It blows when both parents go down, lol. The girls got it last week starting with Piper but kids are so darned resilient, why do they have to make me feel so old and like such a baby handling their cold in stride while all I want to do is lay down! I think this is the end of this one but it reminds me that we need to be drinking our Emergen-C everyday from now until next summer.

Back in to the swing of things

Well we are attempting to get back in to some sort of routine, I am not sure it is worth it since we will be having a new routine shortly due to preschool and music classes. Monday was brutal, mostly for me since the long trip had finally taken a toll and I was EXhausted:) I laid down and took a nap with the big girls playing on the bed with me (as much as a nap as you can take when your kids are pretending you are dough to be molded into different shapes, lol).

Landis took a good nap yesterday but today no such luck. She had a quick 30 min nap in the car while we drove to the pediatrician. She had a check up and the girls got a shot. Landis got a couple shots too much to her dismay. The shots were not so bad but this nurse could have used a better bedside manner IMHO. We made it through and the girls survived. The rest of the day has gone pretty smoothly, the house is tidy, the dinner is ready and the girls are happy so I can count this as another successful day:)

Sacramento

We got to Sacramento in the afternoon and checked in to our hotel. This one we had a full suite and it was nice. It had a full kitchen with dishwasher and the bedroom was separate from the living area. We gave my bro a jingle and met them for dinner.

We went to On the Border and sat outside on the patio. We ended up being there for almost 3 hours and the girls were so good. Piper and Lela sat at a table with their cousin Ava and they were so well behaved someone actually stopped by the table to tell us so.

The next couple days we spent eating, playing at the park, bowling, hanging out and just enjoying the company. The relationship with my brother and his family is so easy going I just love it. No need to harp about who called who or who hasn’t called etc, just show up and pick up where you left off. There was lots of love there and I was so sad to leave, I miss them already:) I am lucky to have family that I adore so much.

Back from Cali

Well we are back from Cali and we had a great time. We got CRAZY and decided to head out Saturday late afternoon because we were ready. So we loaded up the van and went to Palm Springs. It was a fun, easy and quick drive. We stayed in the hotel there. The girls were a stitch exploring every nook and cranny of the room. Landis really thought it was an adventure.

We started using the Hilton Honors program recently so that we can afford more vacations and it worked out for us in spades. Each hotel we stayed at we got an upgrade to a junior suite which was great. The hotels were nice and clean and the one we stayed at in Sacramento even had free breakfast and dinner. We did not partake in the dinner but the breakfast was great and easy.

But I digress, the next morning in Palm Springs we got up and headed to IHOP. The girls enjoyed that and then we got on the road to Santa Barbara. We got there mid afternoon and checked right in to the hotel. We had a great room with a balcony and the weather was awesome.

We spent the next few days exploring the beach, enjoying the boardwalk, riding a bike for 5 up and down to the harbor and even heading out to the state park. The weather was absolute bliss and the girls were great. By Wednesday we were packed and off to Sacramento to visit my brother. It was a long day but the girls continued to surprise us by being great travelers. We never had to stop for them only for us! HA!
