What day is this?

Okay so I think we are on day 5 of potty training and it might actually be kicking in (although I am sure I just jinxed myself). She isn’t asking for a diaper at all. She had two successes today and two accidents. She is still withholding but progress is being made.

Today it was super cute, she went potty at school along side her BFF Elise. They were so excited to be such big girls and sat on the potty right beside each other in the school bathroom (they are kid sized). Oh happy day, it was a very sweet moment.

She had her BM in the bath tub and I am sure when she reads this as a teenager she will be horrified that I wrote this but c’est la vie. She wasn’t happy about it so I know she gets it she is just working on getting it in the right spot…..the potty:)

She is still not in diapers at night and has one accident but it is handled with relative ease and she goes the rest of the night. We will see if the night time dryness kicks in once she gets the hang of going on the potty during the day.

Potty Training Day 3

Well suffice it to say we are beat down. Gah! Potty training quite literally stinks! We did have a couple successes today along side a few failures. She did manage to poo on the potty and I think she was quite surprised that it did not hurt and all was well. She had a couple of big pee accidents and they did not go over well. Still no requests for diapers, so we are forging ahead.

I have managed to get uber stressed about it, chew off my fingernails, chew off Jason’s head and even try to chew on Lela and PIper around bath time. Of course I apologized to all except my nails and they must suffer in silence at the tips of my fingers because that is their sorry lot in life.

We are forging ahead and hoping for no accidents in the car tomorrow when we go to take the girls to school. I am not sure what I am going to do about music class on Tuesday, I just don’t know if I am up for dealing with all of the kids, music class and potty accidents so we shall cross that bridge when we come to it.

There was no magic “aha” moment on day 3 like we were hoping for. I did go back and read the blog (thank goodness for this blog) and this is exactly the way that Lela trained and I think it took us a good 2 weeks to be accident free and the first 3 days were painful. I actually remember Lela being way more upset than Landis but maybe that is just my mind playing tricks on me.

Onward brave souls to diaper freedom!

Potty Training Day 2

It’s 11:20AM and she FINALLY just peed in the potty. She had not peed since 7PM last night. She had been telling us all morning that she had to pee but could not release. Finally she did it! No accidents yet:)

She spent the rest of the afternoon having accidents (only 2 or maybe 3). The thing is she gets it but just can’t relax enough to do the release. She knows when she has to go, she asks to go and she doesn’t mind sitting but she can’t let go. I think this was the same with Lela and once she figured that out she was golden. We have one more day to do this 100% and then we will see where we are and where we go from there.

I do feel bad because she has a little rash on her bumper and I am pretty sure it is because of the laundry detergent:( Poor little bumper cheeks. This is the point where I start to waiver with the training, wondering if we are doing the right thing, wondering if I am pushing her too much, wondering if we should just forget it. Sigh…..where is that manual that she came with:)

Potty Training Day 1

Filed under:Kids — posted by mystique on @ 7:13 am

We started potty training Landis officially today. We are trying a 3 day program that includes day and night training, are we nuts? Possibly.

The day started off okay with her getting up and eating breakfast. After breakfast we said goodbye to the diapers and she threw them in the trash. Then we put on panties.

10:15A first accident, happened across the yard. I saw it happening scooped her up and ran to the potty, cleaned her up and she put on new panties. Upset about the accident but did not ask for diapers and was willing to put on more panties
1:33P Second accident, this time she was at the back door so I kind of think she knew something was going to happen. Same scenario as before, back in panties.
3:20P Accident number 3, this one I missed, I went inside to help Lela in the bathroom and when I came back she was standing by the sandbox saying pee pee, pee pee and it was too late. Gah!
4:27P She says she has to pee, is this a breakthrough? She doesn’t but at least she told me when she got the urge. Can I hold out until Jason gets home? Baby is starting to get cranky I can sense this is all going down hill.
7PM Final accident of the night

Plus sides:
She did tell me she had to pee around 4 but could not go on the potty. She seems to be getting more aware of when she needs to go because she stops and doesn’t go on things she doesn’t want to pee on like her bed etc.

She went to bed at 7:30 and stayed dry all night. It is now 7:12A and we are anxiously awaiting a request to go pee:) Stay tuned.

White Car

Landis is really talking more and more. Just yesterday she told me there was a white car next to us and I looked and it was in fact a white car. I think that most of what she says takes a tuned ear to decipher but we know what she is saying and I am surprised at how she puts sentences together. Just like Piper and Lela she takes her time to do things but then when she does them she does it 100%.

Flies Flies Flies

Filed under:Kids — posted by mystique on @ 5:18 pm

So occasionally Landis tells us she has flies in her ears. When it first happened we thought she was being silly. She has since told us several times over a span of a month or so and it isn’t funny to her so we know she isn’t making it up. Last night she got up and was complaining about flies in her ears and then this morning too. I took her in to the pediatrician this afternoon and she does have fluid in her ears but no infection. So we think that when fluid builds up in her ears she hears “flies” or a buzzing in her ears. Interesting huh? I think all the girls have my tolerance for pain which is good because most ear infections pass us by with no ear pain and therefore no antibiotics. I am going to start documenting the “fly” occurrences so we can make sure it isn’t something else more serious like vertigo etc but I think it is just fluid when she hears the flies.

What just happened?

No sooner than I write about our night time routine and how well it is going it heads to the crapper, lol! That is the way of things is it not?

Last night I got up for the first two feedings, at 1AM I looked over and saw Landis laying next to Jason and thought to myself “how did she get here, when did she get here, I must be out of it.” Then at 2PM I am chatting with Jason and he says that Landis is sleeping with Piper. I asked him if she climbed in to the top bunk and got in bed with Piper and he said yes and that they were sleeping face to face and so cute and he got a picture. I thought that was odd that she did that. Then a little while later Jason says that Lela is asleep at the end of our bed. I say what?? And he says she got scared. A little while later Landis is crying and back in our bed. Phoebe thought with all the action she might as well nurse every minute that she can. By the morning we were not sure what happened the night before. The only thing we knew was that only Piper was in her bed and asleep.

Here is what I think happened:

Landis came in our room (like she does every night)
Jason thought she was Piper and took her to her room and put her in Pipers top bunk
Lela got scared when she saw this shaped figure looming around her bed and putting something in Pipers bed
Lela cried and came to our room
Landis woke up in Pipers bed and thought, what the heck am I doing here
Piper slept through it all and even slept in until 8AM (unheard of)

Jason and I are still tired, imagine that??

Phoebe update

Phoebe is doing awesome. We have her to a 3 hour schedule at night which is nice and J has been a super big help keeping us on task and stretching the feedings. She is up to 10lbs and doesn’t seem to be slowing down just yet. She is definitely long waisted with these tiny little legs (this is typical of our girls, long waisted) so cute.

She has several alert periods during the day with tiny cat naps. Once or twice a day she has a good solid nap. She goes down for the night around 9ish and then we start the 3 hour schedule. She loves to be held and talked to and she is starting to recognize faces. I get these tiny half smiles which is so cool.

The girls have all been really loving and very helpful with Phoebe. I am so lucky that they have adjusted so well.

I have my 6 week follow up on Tuesday and I am looking forward to fitting exercise back in to my routine for my sanity:) All in all we are getting our act together and each transition post baby just gets easier (knock on wood again).
