Pho Bee
The nurse actually called her pho bee at our last appt, whatever!
Anyhoo, she is doing super, sleeping and eating like a champ. She seems to be getting really long waisted since she is sporting her 6 month onesies with ease. She can now hold her head up really well and it is her position of choice when you put her in a reclining position, all she does is try to sit up. She can roll herself on to her stomach but not back over again and that ticks her off. We borrowed a friends bumbo and she really likes that, she can sit up and interact with everyone.
Overall she is doing great, we should have a 4 month appt here soon but I need to make it. She goes to bed around 6PM and gets up at 6AM with a couple feedings in the night. She does do a solid 5-6 hour sleep though but it is generally from 6A to midnightish and then feeds every two hours after that. I am trying to soothe her back to sleep without nursing but so far she isn’t buying it. She is sleeping more and more in her crib and seems to be indifferent to where she is sleeping which is nice. Landis still climbs in to our bed around 2AM and cuddles with J until morning.

Big Week Planned
Well it is officially summer here, we can still sit on our front porch most any time of the day but the temps are hitting 100 and it is too hot to play outside. So far we are all adjusting well to the girls being out of school, this is our second week out of school and I for one am glad not to be hauling everyone around and dropping them off.
This week we are going to go to the summer movie program at the Cinemark in Mesa on Tuesday, the new aquarium on Wednesday and then Great Play on Friday. Looks like Thursday will be our down day so we will be using the ultra nifty and successful activity grab bag that day. I am loaded up with crafts and things to do so it should go smoothly.
I am starting golf on Tuesday night, wish me luck. Seems like whenever I get in to golf we get pregnant, lol!

Destroyer
All of the girls just crack me up at times with the things they say. I love it when they say things so unexpectedly… they’re so much fun to talk right now for so many different reasons. Landis’ vocabulary is expanding rapidly as of late, but it still takes some repetition or translation for me to understand all of her phrases. Which is a change… she’s actually using phrases, not just words. Her latest the other day was “DA! DA! FOL ME” which translated means, “Dad, dad! Follow me!” as she teetered down the hall to her room. Every now and then I’ll ask her to use her words of appreciation just so she’ll give me another cute “peez” in her “tiny soft” voice…
Today after work I got home and the girls were, as usual, hiding from me. After goo-goo-ing with Phoebe and Mystique a bit, I “found” them in their closet. While I was in their room, though, I noticed that their bedroom was a mess. So I asked them, “What happened here? Did a monster come in and throw all your stuff around?” I laughed at my “joke” but Lela actually replied, “Yes.” She had a typical Lela-sly smile on her face which always makes me smile, too.
I laughed at her joke and said, “Well I hope you got his name ‘cuz he’s in trouble” as I started to head out the door.
As I was leaving their room Piper said, “Destroyer.”
I looked back at her and she had a knowing smile on her face… she knew she not only nailed that word but she made a joke that made me laugh. I gave her a smile back.
I love these girls!

Because I said so….
Why doesn’t that work/apply/seem okay? I tell you I want to say “because I said so” about 150 times a day. Fortunately I only say it in my head or when I go in to my closet to talk to myself like a crazy woman. HA!
Piper loves to ask questions even when she knows the answer. Here is a scenario, I am making soup for lunch and Piper comes over and says “what are you making for lunch.” I have learned to say “what do you think I am making for lunch (with no negative tone)” and she says “soup.” If I answer most of her questions with a question in a polite tone she answers them and we are done, I got that one figured out:)
Landis asks “why” about 1000 times a day. Here is the scenario, girls let’s wash our hands for lunch, Landis asks why, I say so we can have clean hands for lunch, why, so we don’t get germs, why, so we won’t get sick, why, so we can eat, why….about now I want to say “because I said so.”
Funny thing is that Lela doesn’t ask why and doesn’t really ask questions to which she knows the answer. She generally asks the question what can I do but we have a solution for that too, its a box of index cards with activities written on them and when she doesn’t know what to do she draws one out and then she knows what to do.
So it seems that today’s biggest drama is the endless “why” from my ultra cute, lovable, inquisitive two year old. Funny how writing that out makes it all seem so insignificant and really nothing to get upset about. HA, now I can come out of the office and finish the day, thanks for listening.

Let your sparkle out
Landis has decided to let her sparkle out! The girls and I are reading a book called, “The Very Fairy Princess.” In the book, Gerry, is a very fairy princess and she talks about how everyone lets their sparkle out in different ways. She lets hers out as a fairy princess while her best friend lets her sparkle out when she plays the tuba. Such a great way of encouraging individuality.
Anyhoo, lately Landis is letting her “sparkle” out in her attire. Today she was a hoot, she had on a floral dress, striped capri pants, purple socks and tennis shoes. She gets all dolled up and then she says “me pretty?”
Previously she would only wear things with no tags that were super soft. She still has those requirements but she also requires skirts or dresses and tennis shoes (to be like Daddy). It is cute but she had exactly ZERO dresses and skirts. Lucky for her she has two older sisters and I raided their closets for soft cotton dresses and skirts. Sparkle on Landis Sparkle on.

Threw out my back
So frustrating when this happens. I was emptying the worlds tiniest trash can when my back went out. Here I am on the floor with a kid on each potty unable to get up, gah!!! This has happened on and off since my late twenties, what a bummer. Lucky for me Jason was able to come home for half of the day and help out since I can’t pick up Phoebe, yeah that works doesn’t it?? Anyhoo, I am better today I can get out of a chair myself but still in a fragile state. I am grateful that Jason is able to help, I don’t know what folks do when there is no one to call. Anyhoo….hopefully this will be all better by the weekend and Phoebe won’t be too upset because no one can hold her:(

Oh I almost forgot…
I am excited about other things for this summer that I forgot to mention.
Now that I am done with my child bearing I am taking golf lessons again:0) Every time I have taken lessons we have either moved or gotten pregnant so I am hoping for neither of those. I am also taking tennis lessons starting in August!
The girls are also starting tennis and golf this summer! They start lessons in July (yeah I know it is hot but hey we live in the desert so it’s gonna be hot). Anyway, they are excited and I am excited. If we all play golf and tennis I am hoping it will be our go to family activity and also give the girls something fun they can always do with their dad:)

What a weekend….
We have had one busy weekend filled with LOTS of quality family time. I don’t know how the pieces all came together but it was a great fun family weekend.
We started with the end of school year picnic at Desert Sun. We took Noa (our neighbor) who had a great time playing with Anthony from her class (his brother was in Piper and Lela’s class). The girls had a great time and were seriously pooped when they got home. Piper did not come out of her room once and even slept in the next day.
Saturday started out with bagels and coffee, yum. Then we spent the day playing games like Go Fish and War. The big girls, Noa and I had a crafting bonanza while Landis napped. Then we all played a game together, we made pizzas and had movie night. It was a lot of fun. Jason and I even got in a game of Memoir 44, unfortunately I was the Germans and lost the battle but oh well:)
Sunday I went to book club in the morning and the rest of the fam had breakfast burritos at home. Then we all went out to lunch and to the movies. We came home and scrubbed up the girls and started laundry so we can all start the week squeaky clean.
I am so glad that the girls are out of school, no schedule, we don’t have to be anywhere and we can just be together and do what we want. Yipee! Hurray for summer vacation:)
