Sewing!

OMG, the girls started sewing in school and they are so super excited. They are sewing two felt stars together with batting in between for a necklace. The star is about 3 inches by 3 inches.

Of course Piper is a sewing super star, she has a bit more coordination than Lela, but what Lela lacks in coordination she makes up for in determination, something Piper is lacking. Anyhoo, Piper brought home her necklace today and she is over the moon. Lela looked at me forlornly and said she was still working on hers. I assured her that her teacher told me she was doing a great job sewing.

I am so excited for them:)

Lately…

Well we have been moving! We are finally completely out of the old house, minus a hoard of junk on the side yard awaiting bulk trash pick up. It is rented and the renters move in this weekend. Stage one complete.

The girls have been super heros helping us along even if it is just finding things to do while mommy and daddy toil away. During the whole thing we have had two visits from out of town guests, Thanksgiving, Winter Faire and the Spiral Walk (school events). I have been having some crazy hormone swings which have really helped out (not really), I think it is my intense workouts in the AM and the nursing of a gigantic 25+ lb 10 months old that have led to the hormone imbalance.

Anyhoo, during all this moving about we have been plagued with injury, here is the rundown:

Landis fell off a stool and chipped two teeth
Lela fell on top of a pitch fork and it went between her nail and finger, ouch
Piper got a 3/4 inch splinter in her thumb
Landis slammed her finger in the new dryer lint drawer

I think there are others but I can’t remember. Thankfully nothing was hospital worthy, or dentist for that matter. We are all so tired that injury is just part of the game I think.

The girls have been sacking out pronto at night and this morning we found Landis cuddled up in bed with Lela (cutest thing ever). Apparently she had gotten up after I left to workout at 4:30AM and could not find me, Lela said she came in to her room crying for mommy and crawled in to bed with her and they both went back to sleep.

Growing Up

Ahh, so many stories — and where has dad been?? Lost the writing bug for some reason… hoping to get back into it, let’s give it a shot!

As Mystique mentioned, we’re in our new house now. It’s great but I can’t wait to get fully settled in (or as much as possible) so the girls can really start to dig the new place. Mystique ordered Piper and Lela some new beds which will be a lot of fun… they’re raised up about four feet while will let them have some privacy underneath for reading, relaxing, or just playing fort. We’ve also got some great plans forming in our head for the backyard which will be fun for all of the girls. Give them some space of their own without any threat of dogs leaving “deposits” :)

Funny Landis story (one of a thousand — she’s a crack up): back story — Landis isn’t the most gentlest of creatures. She certainly means well… loves playing, is the cuddliest one of them all, etc… but sometimes, she gets excited and doesn’t realize that certain actions may actually hurt. For example… clapping her hands hard on my cheeks while sitting in my lap, and then squeezing my lips together into a fish face. Not so gentle, but it’s kind of funny because then she’ll bring her face right up to mine and say, “SAY SOMETHING!” And yes — it’s all caps when she’s right there in your grill.

Anyhow — there she was, on my lap, having just double-cheek smacked me when I said, “Owee — gentle, daddy’s fragile.”

“Me not fragile,” was her reply.

“No? You’re not fragile?” I asked.

“Nope. See?” and then she reached up and smacked herself on the head. And then, of course, got a big ol’ grin on her face. It cracked me up. I’m sure I shouldn’t have laughed, but it was too funny not to. She’s a ham.

Phoebe is coming up on 10 months and is just growing up so fast it’s scary. The other day she was sitting in front of a side table and before we knew it, she had pulled herself up and was standing next to it while holding on. First time she had done that! She’ll be running around in no time.
