Darn those teeth

Well it looks like Phoebe might actually have 3 teeth by her first birthday! She is cutting her first top tooth and it has made her a super grump!

She isn’t resting well at night and so that makes her grumpier during the day. Mostly she can be soothed by carrying her around but she is huge and heavy. Landis was a real chubs but Phoebe is long and just heavy.

It is interesting the Phoebe is following so closely to the size and development of Lela to a T. I am wondering if they are going to look alike or have the same temperament too. It will be interesting to see. Already Lela seems to be taking a real liking to her mini me especially now that she is seeing the similarities that I see.

What’s promoted?

Filed under:Kids — posted by mystique on @ 10:23 am

Lots of talk about promotions around here and what they are and who gets them and why. That is because Jason got a much deserved promotion! We are very excited for him, he is being recognized for all his hard work and we couldn’t be prouder.

On Friday we had a mini surprise celebration for him. We made banners, cooked him his favorite meal (pasta with shrimp, Caesar salad, french bread and Tunnel of Fudge cake). The girls got his coat for him, pulled out his chair at dinner, served him and made him special posters which we hung around the house. It was so cute to see them so proud of him even though they were still unsure what a promotion was and who gets one.

Off of Prevacid and other “Gweat” Landis things

We are off of Prevacid as of today. She didn’t have any this morning and managed to eat a bowl of shredded wheat and an egg with no trouble. Hopefully this continues and she doesn’t get tummy troubles again. I think I will look in to some gentle homeopathic things we can have on hand should tummy troubles rear their heads.

Landis is such a doll. One thing she says lately is “oh gweat” which means oh great. Usually it is followed with an exasperated sigh and it is so cute. She also is the queen of these sweet sayings:

Can you read to me?
When you get done doing (insert action here) will you sit with me?
Will you play with me in the play room?
Do you want to have a tea party with me?

Yesterday we were driving home and she said, “here is one leg.” To explain, on this side of town where we now live there are many more homeless folks that are panhandling. On this one corner stands a man with one leg. He has been the topic of much discussion as we pass him (sometimes handing out money if we have any). As we approached the corner where he normally stands Landis said, “where is one leg?” She was quite concerned that he was not on the corner. I find it so amusing because we have never called him “one leg” we just talk about how he only has one leg. I surprised that she knew where we were to expect him, that she had named him and that she missed him.

Lest you all think me dead

I figured I better post and say we are all alive and kicking. Landis was barely sick and Phoebe passed on that virus to some unsuspecting person (outside our family) in record time. We are all alive and fit as fiddles, some of us are more akin to old banjos with broken strings but you get the gist of it.

Thou shalt not covet

Well we can throw that one out too! The big girls are back at school today but not without some drama. They slept in but that was really okay, everyone was excited and we got out the door at a reasonable time without much harranging. But once in the car the waterworks started. Poor Lela, I am not sure if she doesn’t like change, has trouble transitioning or has some other fear but she was not ready to go back to school. I am sure she is having a fine time now as they are sewing the cutest little gnomes this week and their teacher had a whole basket set aside for them to sew. But she was a weepy mess as I said goodbye but I left her safely in the arms of her loving teacher so I know she is okay.

On to the coveting. With the bigs gone I had the chance to take a breath and realize how much I missed and cherish my alone time with Landis. She is just the most pleasant, peaceful child. She can sit and play with just about anything for as long as you don’t interrupt her. This morning we have played barbies, read books and even had a cup of tea together. I love my Landi time:) Phoebe is sleeping but she was playing her little heart out in the playroom along side Landis, I think those two are going to be BFFs.

Zoo trip

Well we braved the zoo this morning. Yesterday the big girls took a turn for the better and were fever free for 24 hours. Landis was feeling much improved this morning although still stuffy and Phoebe had a good nights sleep until about 4:30AM. So after a light breakfast I decided we all needed to get out of the house.

The idea of taking them to the Children’s Museum where they could catch and spread more germs was not very appealing. So I turned to my old standby the zoo. We hustled to get ready and out the door and to the zoo by 9:30AM! Then we spent a wonderful, leisurely 2 hours walking around in the fresh outside air. I think it was good for everyone. Now we are home and relaxing with some football on the boob toob (Jason managed to get a signal with an antenna!)

Off to do laundry and other Sunday chores:)

That last tree has fallen

Little Landi is ill. Who knows with what just yet only time will tell. She has already had a 2 hour nap today and is generally in good spirits. Hopefully she will kick it to the curb quicker than her sisters.

As for Phoebe she is a pretty pitiful little pea. Jason and I are taking turns sleeping sitting up with her at night which is helping her get much needed r&r but not us. Yeah for Starbucks!

Overwhelmed?? Who me??

Well I have to say that I am generally not overwhelmed. Not to say that I can’t be but usually when I feel it coming on I do something to nip it in the bud like hire a housekeeper:) But I would be lying if I didn’t say I do feel overwhelmed when I have multiple sick kids. With 3 sick kids and one of them being a 1 year old I get physically and emotionally drained. I feel awful because I can barely keep the house picked up and dinner, what is that? Anyway, I am so lucky to have such a wonderful husband who doesn’t ask where his clean shirts are or what’s for dinner. Patience of a saint that man. But I still get a little down in the dumps when I can’t do my day job very well. Just a wee pity party for myself which I calling officially over as of now, well maybe a few more minutes.

Landis just brought me a donut with crunchies and bananas (made out of playdoh), how sweet was that? Lucky mommy, that’s me even during my pity party.
