My little chatterbox

Not stop.
Chattering.
Constant motion.
Words, words, words.
Request upon request upon request.

This is how my day is spent with Landis. She has turned in to such a chatterbox it is unbelievable. Not only can she chatter all day long, non stop, she has started repeating versus and rhymes that the girls sing/say. This morning she looked at Piper and said, “I spy with my little brown eye….something black!” It was so cute and spontaneous. She is in fact the only child with brown eyes in this house and it’s a big deal to her dad who loves having a kindred brownie in the house.

When my chatterbug isn’t chatting she is reading books. All sorts of books. Magazines. Catalogs. Whatever. When she is done reading the books to herself it is my turn. It is my turn right now as I type so I must away to read Angelina Ballerina for the umpteenth time (she just got the book on Sunday from her Grammy Kathie and Grampy Jack and we are wearing out the pages already!)

I’m not complaining mind you, I never did like the sound of silence although I can appreciate it now:)

THAT child

Gah! You know the child I am talking about, don’t you? Let me give you some hints:

The child that you have to ask 5 times nicely to get her things and then you still have to go and physically direct her
The child that begins to whine about what you are saying before you are even finished
The child that thinks life is supposed to be “fair”
The child that won’t put away her things and doesn’t care if they go missing
The child that won’t go to bed and doesn’t sleep (and doesn’t seem to miss sleep either)
The child whose first answer is ‘I don’t want to’ unless it is her idea (like practice piano)
The child who mothers all her sisters
The child that has empathy for others
The child that loves to sing
The child that is a friend to everyone
The child that protects her siblings
The child that tells you your shirt is pretty when your hair is going every which way and you look downright horrible

Yes, you guessed it, it’s Piper. THAT child. The one that is so frustrating and so endearing within the same 5 minutes. I am working on how I manage my relationship with that child.

Here is what I am working on:

When you want to scream, whisper
When you want to explain, hug
Whatever you think it is you should or you want to do, do the opposite
When you want to wring her neck, leave the room and eat chocolate.

I love you Piper:)

Blame it on the weather

Okay so I am going to blame my lack of blogging and photo taking on the weather. It has been so nice that we have been spending every minute outside. We have also been super busy with lots going on.

To name a few, my folks house closed and they brought out their household goods (my dad is here this week my mom arrives in a week and a half), Landis started fairytale ballet class, Piper started gymnastics class, Lela is in ceramics class and Piper and Lela are in music class. Add in a couple playdates a week and outside time and we are toast!

School is in full swing and the girls are doing great handling their routine. They are knitting, painting, drawing, doing mental math, reading books, singing and speaking in spanish, singing songs/verses, playing instruments and learning new routines in movement class.

So many things have happened and I am kicking myself for not blogging them right away but c’est la vie sometimes I am too busy living my life to blog about it;)

Phoebe has started saying two word sentences and often says “tank you mama” when I get her things. She is still interested in potty training but I don’t know if I am just yet. Landis was a champ at her fairytale dance class, she ran in without even a look behind her, so brave. PIper is coming around to her gymnastics and Lela is a pig in mug with her ceramics class.

What can I say, life is good!

The Tramp

Well we did it. Well actually I did it. I got the girls a trampoline. Now before you get upset (and you know who you are) let me explain:) I got this trampoline

It is small, it sits about one foot from the ground, you really can’t jump very high because the springs are so tight, and it is great:) Right now it is in my bedroom and the girls are getting all their afternoon wiggles out on it instead of my sofa! I feel okay about the decision because it really isn’t big enough to do flips on it. It is nice because we can have it indoors and then we can move it outdoors when the weather cools down. We have had it about a week now and so far so good, no real injuries!
