Love is a battlefield
Oh sing it Pat Benatar!! Landis and I are locked on a regular basis in a battle over food. Me wanting her to eat AND eat healthy and her wanting to tell me what to feed her. Grrr…..
Most days we argue over what she can eat, she pitches a fit, I don’t give in and she finally eats something we agree on. This morning she had an apple for snack but she only nibbled all around it and did not finish it. So when she told me 15 minutes later she was hungry I told her to finish her apple. This was not met with approval. Lots of foot stamping, whining and being mean to her little sister ensued. Finally I left the kitchen and ate the rest of the apple myself. I heard a bunch of banging coming from the kitchen and did not know what to expect but I let it go on. Some time later I went in to the kitchen and found every drawer opened, every cabinet opened and an apple sitting on the counter.
HA! I guess that was her way of telling me she wasn’t happy with my decision BUT she did not eat the apple. Just left it sitting there alone on the counter uneaten. Probably she just changed her mind and decided not to eat it but I am going to tell myself I won that skirmish.
Yesterday I was tickled with myself because I got her to eat a HLP a hummus lettuce and pickle sandwich. She ate the whole thing! I thought I found a winner but alas today it was a no go, she opted for the pickle and not much else.
Parenting is the most humbling thing I have ever done. I get a serving of humble pie daily but I didn’t think pie daily was a good thing for you. I am wondering if I could eat it less frequently, I will have to talk to my kids about that:)
